Page 1 of 2 3D measurement of the combustion chamber volume … to know what’s inside! | The GFM VolumeChecker technology allows a fast measurement of the combustion chamber volume directly on the cylinder head with or without inserted valves as well as the three dimensional acquisition of the combustion chamber’s contour. For centuries, the detection of the combustion chamber volume has had a high importance in vehicle development. In times of the computer-aided design and an increasing manufacturing accuracy, the classic volume gauging by means of liquids or gases is more and more replaced. An increasing number of companies is using the advantages of the optical 3-D-measuring technology, which allows a fast, highly accurate and efficient (laminary) calculation of the combustion chamber volume.
